There were 47 students who participated in the 2008 Canadian Open Mathematical Olympiad. Out of these 47 participants, we had 17 successfully earn an award of distinction (top 25% of all contest writers) and one student qualify for the Canadian Mathematical Olympiad.
Congratulations to all the participants!
The first round of the CNML competition took place in October, and the Woodlands was very well represented. Ten of our students achieved perfect scores, and Woodlands is tied for first place amongst schools after the first of six rounds.
The STELLAR Awards are a yearly event by the Peel School Board to honour students who have excelled at the provincial, national, and international levels.
These Woodlands students were honoured in the Mathematics category at the 2008 STELLAR Awards:
The Woodlands School continues to perform well in the Canadian National Mathematics League. After four of six rounds, The Woodlands is in ninth place out of over 200 schools participating Canada-wide, and locked in a close battle with University of Toronto Schools and Upper Canada College.
Additionally, one of our students obtained a prestigious perfect score in round four of the competition.
Congratulations to our students who are participating in the CNML math competition! After two rounds, the Woodlands School is tied for 7th place overall, out of over 200 participating schools from across Canada. Four more rounds are scheduled, culminating in March, so there's still time to make the Top 5!
