Hello everyone,
This is to remind you that there will be a School Council Meeting at 7.00 p.m. on Monday November 21st, 2011 in the Woodlands School Library. The presentation following the meeting is on Transition to Colleges and Universities, hosted by Kathryn Wilkinson, a recently retired Guidence Counselor from The Woodlands who continues to do supply work in Guidence.
This is an important topic, particularly for grade 11 and 12 students and their parents. Students will be applying for University and College in the coming weeks, so if you have any questions, this is the time to ask and get the answers you need. Please mark the date and time on your calendar and come out for the meeting/presentation.

Just a quick reminder that the Ford Drive One 4 You Fundraiser is taking place at The Woodlands until 4:00 pm today. For every test drive taken, Ford will donate $20 to the group of your choosing at the school (Music, DECA, athletics, Prefects, math, ...)

I just got back from my test drive. It was super-easy - fill out a short questionnaire / survey, show your driver's license, and you're off in any of the 10 different cars, SUVs, and trucks that are at the school. I was done in 20 minutes, the school made $20, and I was very impressed with the 2012 Ford Focus. So a good time all around!
The school is hoping to have 300 test drives today, so please come out and take part.

As announced previously, the Woodlands School Council meeting scheduled for Monday, October 25 has been postponed to Monday, November 1 due to a scheduling conflict with the municipal elections.
We encourage you to participate in both events. Your votes for mayor, councillor, and school trustee directly affect the community you live in, and participation in School Council allows you to influence and contribute to your children's education!
Details on poll locations and how to vote can be found at http://www2.mississauga.ca/vote2010/wheretovote.aspx
Due to the municipal election taking place on October 25, the Woodlands School Council meeting scheduled for that evening has been postponed one week. The meeting will now take place on Monday, November 1st.
Thank you for your understanding.

The agenda for the September 27 Parent Council meeting at The Woodlands School can be found on the School Council Website at http://woodlandscouncil.com/agendas/2010-09-27
The meeting will be followed by a presentation on Study Skills and Time Management by Kerry Everitt (Vice-Principal) and Susan Goodman (Cross-Curricular Head, Student Success and Alternative Programs).
All parents and students are welcome and invited to attend the meeting and/or presentation.
Please contact the council executive members if you have any questions or wish additional information on the evening's agenda.
Our principal, Ms. Carol Suhay has invited parents to participate in the School Success Planning Session on Thursday September 2 from 8:30am to 12:00 noon.
There will be a hot breakfast buffet at 8:30 and an opportunity to mingle with staff, parent, and student participants.
From 9:00am onwards, the school's Instructional Resource teacher, Bibiana Couto will gather input from all the participants through various activities. We would like to have as many parents participate as possible as there will be 16 table groups in all. Ideally there will be
at least one parent in each group.
This is in keeping with and continuing forward with the school's new mission statement:
Inspiring all students in an inclusive, caring, and supportive community to reach their potential as successful and responsible global citizens.
Please contact the school council co-chair, Shaila Shankardass (shaila.shankardass@woodlandscouncil.com) if you are interested in participating.
