Seminar: What Parents and Youth Need to Know About Drugs, Alcohol, and Addictions

Your Woodlands School Council proudly presents the Woodlands Speaker Series covering topics of interest to the parent community. Attendance is free, and parents, students, and siblings are all welcome.

Parents and students from our Woodlands feeder schools are also invited to attend - this is a great opportunity to get to know your future high school!

Topic: What Parents and Youth Need to Know About Drugs, Alcohol, and Addictions
Presenter: Allison Imrie & Peg Folsom, Public Health Nurses, Peel Public Health

There are three components to this seminar:

Session for parents: Learn what drugs are, what they look like, what drugs are being used most by teens and what parents can do to prevent use and abuse at this interactive presentation that includes discussion, a drug board and resource pamphlets.

Session for youth: “Drugs 101” contains information about various categories and types of drugs, including their short-term and long-term effects, mixing drugs, and community resources. This interactive presentation includes a discussion, drug board and resource pamphlets.

There will be an interactive component that brings the parents and youth back together at the end of the separate sessions.
